Robust All-Stars 11, Aeros in the Outfield 2

The Robust All-Stars had their gloves on display as they held the Aeros to 2 runs in an 11-2 victory. The RAS turned two unusual double plays: one runner was doubled up on a fly out and another was nailed at home plate trying to score on a sac fly. Arman Haidari, Nate Aumock, and Ben Hackel hit a home runs to lead the offense.

Sal Baxamusa played only three days after getting married, Hackel played on his birthday, but Jason Walther outdid everybody by playing on the day that his second son was born. Walther had one at-bat before retiring early to be the designated babysitter.

The Aeros rover flashed some leather, making several nice catches and almost single-handedly holding the RAS hitless for three innings.

In the comments, please post your availability for next week's game and subsequent picnic. Include whether you will be bringing any guests - wives, girlfriends, children, visiting family members, homies, etc.

Game starts at 5:30 pm (please arrive around 5 pm to warm up) and the picnic will follow immediately. The location of both the game and the picnic are TBA.

We play the other ChE team, so we really need to bring it next week. Loser has to grill.

Head Count: Game 6

In the comments, post your availability.

Wed 28 Jun 2006 5:30 PM Field 5 (home)

I am finally back, and the team can look forward to my passion on the field. This ain't no Mickey Mouse league, this is full-on heavy-hitting M.I.T.C.S.S. summer league. Cal Tech and Harvey Mudd can't touch the talent level we face in this league. So when we have a closely contested game, expect me to look out for you guys. I'm not afraid of going jaw-to-jaw with the umpire. This guy Mikulik?

He ain't got nothing me. You hear me? NOTHING!

In the comments, indicate your availability for this week's game:

Head Count: Game 4

You know the drill: post a comment indicating your availability for the game.

Wed 14 Jun 2006 5:30 PM Field 8 (home)

Arrive at 5 pm to warm-up. We haven't played in a while and we'll need to shake off the rust.

John Kruk: "If their pitching holds up, I think they can be force this year."
Harold Reynolds: "Well, they've got to get out of their early season hitting slump. I think the bats will come alive in this game."
Karl Ravech: "We know the Robust All-Stars heat up with the weather. Let's see what they can do this week."

Make Up Game on 5 July?

In the comments, please indicate if you can make a game on 5 July. I know it's the day after the holiday, but making up this week's rainout on an off week is preferable in my view to an eventual double header.

Head Count: Game 3

In the comments, indicate whether or not you can make this week's game:

Wed 07 Jun 2006 5:30 PM Field 7B (home)

Field 7B is in the far corner of the Brigg's Field complex, bordering the Westgate lot on one side and Amherst Alley on the other. Please arrive a half-hour early to warm up. Nobody wants to pull a groin muscle.

My Predictatron (TM) foresees clutch hits and diving stops. Let's make it happen!

Freshly Killed Chicken 11, Robust All-Stars 7

Seasonal record: 1-1

Field reporter Kevin Brower filed the following story:

"The Robust All-stars, although they came up short on the scoreboard,
played like men. On the other hand, The Freshly Killed Chicken played like .
. . . well, chickens."

Seasonal and game stats forthcoming.
